I've been reading the stories about how people started their collections and
have enjoyed them immensely. I have numerous collections, but probably
one of the more unusual ones is toaster dolls. About 5 years ago I went
to an all city garage sale in a little town not far from me. I found a cloth doll
that immediately reminded me of an elegant Jamaican lady with caramel
colored skin, a beautiful yellow dress and her hair done up in a matching
scarf. I was really puzzled because the doll didn't have any legs, but I
loved it so much that I bought it anyway. There was a teen-aged boy
manning the sale, so I didn't really ask many questions. Well, I found out
that it was a toaster doll. Since then I have accumulated about 30 different
toaster dolls. I have them in just about every skin color, hair color and a
wide variety of dress styles. I just love them because they all have different
distinct personalities. Two years ago I went back to that same little town
for the all city sales again. I had made myself a mental note of the
neighborhood where I purchased that first doll. I went into one garage and
sure enough, there was another toaster doll. I bought it and this time I was
able to meet the lady who was selling them. She was downsizing and
was thrilled that someone else appreciated them. This year, I'm taking a
picture of my collection and taking it with me in case she is having another
sale. I have had a problem figuring out how to display them. Since their
dresses are so poofy, they take up a lot of room. I'd love to hear any
suggestions. Pam PPaul92506@aol.com
