Vintage Girl Planter/Vase, Kim Ward, Hollywood, 1943. This pretty planter is 8 1/2" high by 8/ 3/4" wide. All decorated in dark brown and pale olive green, this beautiful girl is holding her apron wide to receive the plant you want to insert. She is a gorgeous reminiscence of the 1940's. Kim Ward was a former Hedi Schoop employee. Her work was so close to Schoop's that Schoop sued her in 1942 and won. However, the lawsuit may not have spelled the end of Ward's company. She made some very nice California pottery of which this Girl Planter is an example. Other than two glaze flakes on the back side base of the planter, it is in very good vintage condition. It is marked "43 Kim Ward Hollywood". |
