Figurine, ceramic, Dorothea Wight, Colonial Man, 1951. This rare figurine is 7" tall. The blond colonial man is extending his hand to someone or something. The man is ivory-white with flesh colored hands, face and blond hair. The figurine was designed by English Artist Dorothea Wight in 1951. She established an editioning and platemaking workshop for intaglia called "Studio Prints". She is also an honorary member of "The Royal Society of Painter Etchers". This figurine has a little bit of crazing, which is indicative of its age, and a couple of pinhead under-the-glaze brown spots. Its overall condition is very good. It is marked "1951 Dorothea Wight". |
