Platter, Harker, Pate Sur Pate, Teal. Harker Pottery was based in Ohio beginning in 1857 and was operated by George S. Harker. The business continued until 1972. Pate Sur Pate is the laborious process involving building up a design in relief with layers of liquid slip, each one having to dry before the next is applied. This large platter is in the Harker teal green. It is an attractive pattern, dark green with a white gadroon design around the border. The platter is 13 3/4 inches by 10 inches. It has a pinpoint paint fleck (see second photo) otherwise in good condition. The bottom says, Harker pottery, est. 1840, Pate sur Pate ware.
