Figurine/Planter Pair, Hedi Schoop, 1946, Dutch Boy and Girl. The figurines are approximately 11" tall and 5" at the base. They were produced in 1946. The girl's apron acts as the vase opening. The boy is holding only one bucket. Hedi Schoop, one of America's most original pottery designers, ended up in California as a result of the Nazi party's rise to power in Germany. She was Swiss born and fled Germany for Hollywood in the early 1930's. Before long she was making slipcast ceramic pieces, and by 1940 she had a full-fledged factory. It was located in North Hollywood. The company stayed in business until 1958 when it was destroyed by fire. These pieces are in very good vintage condition and marked "Hedi Schoop Hollywood Cal".  

Figurine/Planter, Hedi Schoop, Dutch Girl. This pretty Dutch girl is 11" high. She is holding her apron to one side. The apron opening is the planter area. This figurine has a small paint flake on the right foot. It is otherwise in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. It has the "Hedi Schoop Hollywood Calif." mark.  

Vase, Horse, Hedi Schoop. This pink and white horse with the green saddle is 9 3/4" tall at the head and 10 1/2" wide from head to tail. Another example of Hedi Schoop's fine work. He has some crazing and someone painted over a few glaze skips on the base. He is in remarkably good condition for his age--no chips or cracks. He is signed "Hedi Schoop".
